         Painter of Pedigree

Thomas Weaver was a painter of farming, domestic, wild and sporting animals. Many
of his pictures are in private collections, but others can be found in Tate Britain, the Yale Centre for British Art, the Royal Agricultural University, the Museum of English Rural Life, the Beamish and the Shrewsbury Museums. Several are on display in Holkham Hall, Shugborough Hall, Weston Park, Upton House and Calke Abbey.

He painted many prize bulls, such 
as Comet, bred by the famous Colling brothers of Durham and 
sold for 1000 guineas in 1811.
Some of his paintings were engraved, such as Mr Cotes MP with his new Rotherham plough on his Shropshire estate in 1809.

Huntsmen, foxhounds and racehorses were popular commissions from the rural gentry and aristocracy of the Midlands.
